Masutatsu Oyama

Masutatsu Oyama, born Choi Yeong-eui in 1923, was a legendary martial artist and the founder of Kyokushinkai Karate, a style renowned for its rigorous training and full-contact sparring. After moving to Japan, Oyama trained under prominent masters like Gichin Funakoshi and Gōgen Yamaguchi.

His dedication to martial arts led him to seclude himself in the mountains for intense training, where he honed his skills and philosophy. Oyama's remarkable feats, such as fighting bulls and breaking stones, earned him the nickname Godhand.

In 1957, he established Kyokushinkai Karate, emphasizing the principles of discipline, strength, and the pursuit of the ultimate truth in martial arts. His legacy continues to inspire karate practitioners worldwide.
